Midtown’s about to get another place to split a round of small plates and a couple of cocktails. The partners behind Range Kitchen & Tap in Roseville are opening a new creative American restaurant on Capitol Avenue, taking over the former Sibling by Pushkin’s space.
The group plans to turn roughly 2,700 square feet into an easygoing, shareable-plate hangout with a full drinks program and a big outdoor patio. They are aiming for an early March opening, though that could slide depending on how tenant improvements go. Kevin Kokoszka, who runs Range in Roseville, is expected to lead the Midtown kitchen and keep the new spot closely tied to its Roseville sibling.
The move was first detailed by the Sacramento Business Journal. WhatNow reports that the partners have leased the former Sibling by Pushkin’s space at 1813 Capitol Ave after that longtime brunch favorite closed on January 4 when its lease expired.
Menu style and who is running the kitchen
Judging from the Roseville menu listed on OpenTable, the Midtown offshoot is likely to lean into comfort-heavy, shareable American plates. Think cast-iron meatballs, mac and cheese, burgers, salads, and pizzas, paired with craft cocktails plus local beer and wine. The Roseville operation is run by Kokoszka, and the partners say he will be involved in the Midtown project; Range lists the Roseville location and its ownership.
Capitol Avenue space and opening timeline
The 2,700-square-foot ground-floor space comes with an expansive patio along one of Midtown’s busiest corridors, a selling point for anyone who prefers their happy hour with a side of people-watching. The lease was signed at the end of December, according to reporting and a social media post cited by WhatNow. The publication notes the team is aiming for a March 1 opening, although the partners have warned that construction and tenant improvements could nudge that date.
