Round Rock is stepping up to the plate as the new hometown for the Texas Volts, an addition to the Athletes Unlimited Softball League that’s sure to ignite excitement amongst fans of pro women's sports. The Volts will be setting up camp at Dell Diamond, known for its two-decade-plus run as a community landmark and now, for serving up home runs as the backdrop to the league's elite softball action. According to the Round Rock official website, the selection of Round Rock was a no-brainer after the city showcased its hunger for the sport with strong turnouts for the AUSL games last summer.

With softball icon Cat Osterman at the helm as general manager and Ricci Woodard, plucked straight from her impressive tenure at Texas State, taking the reins as head coach, the Volts are energized for success, and they're not short on talent either, having snagged University of Texas standout Mia Scott for the roster, that also includes big hitters like Rachel Garcia and Dejah Mulipola, and former Oklahoma All-American Tiare Jennings who have proven themselves on national teams and in previous statewide showdowns, which they're definitely looking to add to their batting averages and their leadership experience can't be ignored.

"As the Sports Capital of Texas, it’s only fitting that we house the highest level of professional softball in Round Rock," Mayor Craig Morgan told the city's newsroom. Dell Diamond's legacy is about to get a whole lot more titillating for softball fans, especially since the Volts' introduction comes hot on the heels of the AUSL's high-flying inaugural touring season last year; this year, they'll be pitching against the likes of the Carolina Blaze, Chicago Bandits, Oklahoma City Spark, Portland Cascade, and Utah Talons starting June 9.

Fans can secure seats now by becoming Founding Season Ticket Members, and group tickets are available for all games. Single-game tickets will go on sale at a later date. "For more information, visit www.milb.com/round-rock/fans/ausl," as stated by the City of Round Rock.
