Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 51-year-old Jesse Jeremiah in connection with multiple copper wire thefts from Regional Transit. The arrest happened near the light rail tracks during an overnight sting operation, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies caught Jeremiah with a wagon carrying 18 large strands of stolen copper wire and burglary tools, and a search of his storage unit uncovered more copper wiring, crime-linked clothing, and a metal cart. One of his thefts caused about $73,000 in damage, affecting transit services, and he is now held at Sacramento County Main Jail without bail, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page, Jeremiah has an extensive criminal history, including an active felony warrant for attempted grand theft, vandalism, burglary, and resisting arrest. Authorities said security footage and recovered items link him to additional thefts and asked the public to call 916-874-5115 with any information.
