Commuters in east Sacramento experienced delays on Monday morning after SacRT suspended Gold Line service between 13th Street and Power Inn stations due to vandalism. A temporary bus bridge was set up while crews worked on repairs, as reported by CBS News Sacramento

The disruption was caused by copper wire theft, part of a growing problem affecting SacRT and other public infrastructure nationwide. SacRT reported 49 similar incidents last year, with damages typically ranging from $10,000 to over $50,000 per case.

SacRT has increased patrols and added more surveillance cameras in high-risk areas after a rise in transit-related crime. The agency plans to use AI-powered drone technology later in 2026. While normal service has not resumed, SacRT said, "A Bus Bridge is available between affected stations, as crews work to restore service," according to FOX40
