A 61-year-old man from Saline, Michigan, died following a snowmobile accident in Clark Township in the Upper Peninsula on Saturday. According to Michigan State Police and reported by CBS News Detroit, the man was riding on Trail 47 near Bay City Lake Road when he hit a bump and was thrown from the snowmobile.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 12:58 p.m. and provided first aid, but the man did not survive, MLive reported. Michigan State Police said there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved. The victim, whose name has not been released, was 329 miles from his hometown at the time of the accident.
Local authorities are currently investigating the crash. Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by Clark Township Emergency Medical Services, the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
MSP Eighth District Public Information Officer, offered condolences to the family, saying authorities extend their sympathies to loved ones. The investigation is ongoing as local authorities continue examining the circumstances of the accident.
