Residents in Salt Lake City are bracing for a wet week ahead as the National Weather Service predicts a series of rain-laden days with temperatures hovering in the mid to high range, though skies may clear intermittently. According to the National Weather Service, today's rain is expected to subside before the late morning, giving way to mostly sunny conditions with a peak temperature near 48°F and light, variable winds.
In the latter part of the day, conditions will shift to partly cloudy with a modest drop in temperature to approximately 36°F. Easterly winds are set to breeze through at a slow pace of 3 to 6 mph when nighttime falls, which might not provide much in the way of respite from the day's dampness. The chances of precipitation rise again over the weekend, particularly after 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday; the NWS anticipates a probability hovering around 70% for rain, while come Sunday night, showers could intensify to a thunderstorm with an increased likelihood of precipitation at 90%.
The onset of the work-week doesn't seem to offer a break from gray skies, with rain on the docket for Monday, and a high temperature near 48°F, the chance of precipitation stands strong at 80%. Evening times may bring a reprieve with chances of showers and thunderstorms trailing off before 11 p.m. However, a chance of rain persists thereafter as the temperature cools to a night low of around 33°F.
As Salt Lake City residents peer further into the week, the dicey dance with precipitation continues, with the NWS noting a chance of rain before 11 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by partly sunny patches, but then shifting back towards a chance of rain and snow on Wednesday, fluctuating weather conditions can be expected as temperatures are predicted to wobble, cooling to into the high 30s for Thursday with a chance of snow. Such wetness stretches through to Wednesday night, with the low dropping close to 28°F, and the potential for mixed rain and snow persists.
