The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office has a message for motorists bracing against the chill and the challenge of winter roads: don't find yourself caught unprepared as the snow blankets the canyons. In a social media post from January 25th, the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office announced a collaboration with UDOT Cottonwood Canyons Transportation to offer locals a leg up on their winter driving game, with free tire inspections, traction law guidance, and complimentary resources to navigate the season's demands.
On January 30th, for three-hours starting at 10 a.m., the local community is invited to visit the Sheriff's Office at 3365 S 900 W. During this time, drivers can benefit from a range of no-cost services aimed at ensuring their vehicles are up to the task of tackling slippery, snow-laden roads with confidence. The event, as announced on Facebook, emphasizes the importance of a few minutes of precaution, potentially saving hours in the cold wait of a roadside emergency.
The initiative underscores a proactive approach towards winter hazards, aiming to educate and equip motorists before they take to the roads. Such efforts by local law enforcement are part of a broader strategy to minimize accidents and ensure smoother, safer travel during the often perilous winter months.
