"Recognizing National Blood Donor Month is about more than awareness— it’s about reminding our community that blood donation is a critical public service," Councilmember Meza Gonzalez explained, hoping to both commend regular donors for their life-saving contributions and to nudge others toward considering the gift of donation, "By highlighting this need, we hope to thank those who donate and encourage others to consider giving," her statement revealed to the public as per the City of San Antonio website.
