San Antonio strengthened its military focus with District 9 Councilwoman Misty Spears being named Tri-Chair of the Military Transformation Task Force. The City of San Antonio said the group aims to enhance military activities, support economic stability, and reinforce the city’s role as Military City, USA® and Military Medical City USA®.
In her new role, Spears will collaborate with local businesses, nonprofits, and military officials on key military initiatives and community impacts. She stated, "Serving as Tri-Chair allows for early engagement and ensures our city remains a strong and reliable partner to those who serve," according to the City of San Antonio.
Councilwoman Spears was appointed to the Military Task Force to coordinate efforts between San Antonio, military leaders, and local stakeholders. The task force aims to support military families and maintain economic growth, with Joint Base San Antonio contributing over $55 billion to the region. Spears said, "This work is about partnership and preparation," and will focus on planning and cooperation to keep the city ready and strong for military families, as stated by the City of San Antonio.
