
Yesterday, the Santa Rosa Police were called to an altercation involving a man with a firearm. The incident unfolded in the 800 block of Sonoma Avenue, where a food delivery driver reported being menaced by a suspect who flashed a black handgun at him. The distressing interaction took place as the victim was merely repositioning his vehicle after making a delivery from the spot allegedly claimed by the suspect, the Santa Rosa Police Department detailed on their social media.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Santa Rosa resident John Nicolopoulos, was swiftly located by officers who surrounded his residence. Utilizing a patrol vehicle's PA system, police called for Nicolopoulos to emerge. After several minutes, he complied, and he was arrested without further incident. According to the official account provided by the Santa Rosa Police Department, the subsequent search with a warrant yielded a loaded Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun beneath clothes in a laundry basket and an unloaded .223 caliber rifle in a rifle box in the living room, with both firearms registered in Nicolopoulos’ name. K9 "Ghost," specifically trained to sniff out firearms, remarkably contributed to locating the hidden handgun.
Post-arrest, Nicolopoulos faced charges for brandishing a firearm in a threatening manner and carrying a concealed weapon, as per the penal codes 417(a)(2) and 25400(a)(2), respectively.
