Lowe's is gearing up to cut the ribbon on a new Manvel store at the end of January, bringing the home-improvement chain's self-service paint kiosks to the fast-growing Houston suburb. The company has lined up a two-day grand opening that will feature product demonstrations, giveaways, workshops for kids and free food. The site is positioned as a large-format Lowe's meant to serve the surge of new housing south of Houston.
Where The New Store Lands In Manvel Town Center
The Manvel location will serve as an anchor at Manvel Town Center, a multi-phase retail and residential development by Weitzman. The firm says the project pulls from a trade area that includes dozens of master-planned communities and more than 102,000 residents within five miles. Manvel Town Center already features an H-E-B and a growing mix of national and local tenants, which helps make it a regional draw, according to Weitzman.
Different Numbers On Store Size
Public project records filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation put the Lowe's build at roughly 107,135 square feet. Industry write-ups and earlier development coverage have cited a range of about 94,000 to 140,000 square feet. The gap reflects different reporting points, from official registration to preliminary project descriptions, and suggests the final in-store layout may have been adjusted as construction progressed. Paint Kiosks, Board-Cutting And Opening-Day Plans
A Jan. 6 news release covered by Community Impact reports that the Manvel Lowe's will debut the retailer's self-service paint kiosks. The company says the kiosks are intended to cut down on wait times at the paint counter and free up associates to help customers with broader project needs.
Community Impact notes that the store plans a board-cutting ceremony for the store team and special guests at the grand opening on Jan. 30, with customer-facing events continuing through Jan. 31. The Celina edition of Community Impact quoted Lowe's South Division President Joel Cogdell saying, "Service is at the core of everything we do here at Lowe’s and solving problems and helping customers across their journey is our mandate."
What The New Lowe's Means For Manvel
Company representatives told local outlets the Manvel store will employ more than 100 associates, adding retail jobs along with in-store project support for nearby residents. Developers and leasing materials point to rapid population growth and rising household counts in the trade area as reasons national retailers are moving into Manvel, according to Weitzman.
