Ugly Dumpling is gearing up to open its first Texas location at The Arboretum, bringing Shanghai-style soup dumplings, dim sum, wontons and noodles to the shopping center. The fast-casual chain is planning both dine-in and takeout service as crews wrap up the buildout, with an opening targeted for late January or early February.
A representative told Community Impact that the Arboretum space is in its final renovation phase and that the team is aiming to open in late January or early February. The outlet notes the restaurant will sit at 10000 Research Blvd. and confirms this will be Ugly Dumpling’s first Texas outpost, joining other recently announced tenants in the center.
What To Expect at Ugly Dumpling
The menu leans Shanghai-influenced and centers on xiao long bao, the classic soup dumplings, alongside noodles, dim sum, wontons and wok-fired plates, according to Ugly Dumpling. The brand’s website notes that dumplings are made in-house and that the Austin location will also pour bubble teas and serve small plates meant for sharing. Service will follow a fast-casual model, with both dine-in seating and carryout available.

The Arboretum arrival is part of a broader dumpling boom across Austin.
