Furthering its mission to nurture the next generation of women in science and technology, SheTech Explorer Day returns to Tucson on February 12. This event, now in its seventh year, will unfold at the University of Arizona Student Union, inviting high school girls from grades nine through 12 to delve into the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

The event will feature hands-on workshops in fields such as game design, cybersecurity, life sciences, and engineering. Participants will also have the chance to meet local STEM professionals and learn about potential career paths.

Last year, more than 350 students from 20 local high schools attended an event presented by Southwest Gas, meeting with 30 exhibitors from Tucson companies and organizations, according to Pima County Newsroom.

The 2026 event continues to receive support from local businesses. Sponsors include Southwest Gas, Tucson Water, Pima County Economic Development, Optics Valley, and the Southwest Center for Optics and Photonics. Interested sponsors or exhibitors can contact Jacquelyne Vega at [email protected].

SheTech Explorer Day is coordinated by the City of Tucson’s Office of Economic Initiatives and was originally launched in Utah by Women Tech Council in 2014. The program aims to give local high school girls the opportunity to explore careers in STEM.
