Commuters in South Los Angeles faced major delays following a shooting incident on Wednesday that resulted in the closure of all eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway. According to NBC Los Angeles, the area between Crenshaw Boulevard and Arlington Avenue was shut down as officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigated West Adams Boulevard and South Hoover Street after a reported shooting took place at approximately 12:26 p.m.
The incident led to significant backups, with severe congestion reported from the 10 Freeway's closure stretching all the way to the Cloverfield Boulevard exit in West LA. Officials estimated delays up to 2 hours. KTLA described a 44-year-old man who was found with gunshot wounds after pulling his grey Lexus SUV off the freeway around a mile from where the incident occurred and was driven in serious condition to a hospital.
CBS LA reports that the victim was transferred to a nearby hospital and was last known to be in stable condition. The eastbound freeway lanes were reopened shortly after 4:30 p.m., following the SigAlert issued during the crisis. Traffic had been diverted off at Crenshaw Blvd, with CHP advising drivers to exercise caution in the vicinity of the investigation.
