
The Tempe Police Department has reported an incident involving the assault of six seniors at the Escalante Multi-Generational Center, which took place on a Wednesday morning around 11:30 a.m. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the suspect, identified as Derek Kirven, aged 62, was apprehended after being confronted for not being a member of the center for a second time. "He started to assault these people by punching them and throwing them to the ground," the police stated, with one victim hospitalized and reported in stable condition, while the others sustained minor injuries.
Police action resulted in the detention of Kirven, who now faces charges related to the assaults. The extent of all injuries has not been detailed, but broken bones were among them, as reported by ABC 15. The suspect was granted a hold by on-site security until law enforcement arrived at the scene.
