On December 15, Sergeant Alex Leimeister and Patrolman DJ Sheldon showcased exemplary service and quick thinking when they responded to an emergency at a local manufacturing plant. The officers found an individual unconscious in the break room and in what appeared to be full cardiac arrest.

Upon encountering the dire situation, Leimeister and Sheldon did not hesitate. They began life-saving measures, including CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), in an effort to resuscitate the individual. The duo continued their emergency response until the arrival of Solon Fire/EMS, who assisted in further treatment and eventual transportation of the individual to a hospital. "Their heroic actions and" according to a social media post from the City of Solon Police Department Government, "coupled with the work of our teammates from Solon Fire and our local hospital, saved a life that afternoon."

Recognizing the gravity of their deed and the proficiency with which it was carried out, the Solon Police Department has awarded Sgt. Leimeister and Ptl. Sheldon received a life-saving commendation.
