While the closure will only span a single night, the city's administration is encouraging everyone to take note and prepare to adjust their travel plans. In a statement by the City of St. Augustine – Government, they shared, "Please plan ahead if you’ll be traveling during those overnight hours and allow extra time for alternate routes." A helpful reminder that sometimes, to efficiently maintain infrastructure, a community must briefly endure the quiet that comes with repair.
The Bridge of Lions, a key connection across the Matanzas River and a historic landmark with its Medici lions, will be temporarily closed. Residents who regularly use the bridge at night will feel the impact.
