St. Johns County has approved nearly $2 million in upgrades for DeLeon Shores Park. On December 4, the Board of County Commissioners authorized a $1,976,559 contract for improvements. K&G Construction Co., Inc. has been contracted to carry out the refurbishment of the 4-acre park.
DeLeon Shores Park, located at 9 Dolphin Blvd. E. in Ponte Vedra, features amenities such as a playground, skate park, and tennis and basketball courts. The planned upgrades include improvements to the dog park, a full renovation of the skate park, new lighting, and three pickleball courts. Additional enhancements consist of a renovated multipurpose field with a surrounding walking path, a new restroom building, and two new pavilions, according to St. Johns County.
Ryan Kane, Director of the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department, stated that the project was a community-driven initiative. Staff collaborated with local residents to design the new amenities, and the Board of County Commissioners approved funding to upgrade the park’s aging infrastructure.
