It's not every day you get to see law enforcement and firefighters duke it out for a good cause, but St. Johns County is bringing that opportunity front and center with their Fight Night event. On February 26, St. Augustine Amphitheatre will transform into a hotspot for local heroism, not just through service but through left hooks and uppercuts. Announced by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, it's a night that promises a knockout for anyone who loves a bout of competitive spirit for charity.
Tickets are on the metaphorical ropes with a starting price of only $10.89, a small price to pay to witness the bouts that SJSO Deputies, St. Johns County Fire Rescue, and St. Augustine Fire Department Firefighters will bring to the ring. Earmarked to benefit charity, the proceeds will slide into the coffers of some pretty notable causes. With the money, the Sheriff's Office is aiming to give back to the community, particularly the children, which include those with special needs and intellectual disabilities.
The two charities set to receive assistance from Fight Night, Diamond of Dreams and Special Olympics Florida, focus on inclusivity in sports and play. Diamond of Dreams aims to provide a new ball field and playground designed expressly for kids with special needs. Special Olympics Florida, on the other hand, supports local athletes with intellectual disabilities in getting active and involved in various sports.
Corporate benefactors, fret not, there's room for you in this melee of altruism. Corporal Krissie Padgett is the one to get in touch with if throwing your company's weight behind this event is in the cards.
