The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office announced that a DUI checkpoint is scheduled for tomorrow at an undisclosed location within the county. According to the Sheriff's Office, the operation is funded by the California Cannabis Tax Fund. Deputies trained to detect alcohol- and drug-impaired driving will conduct the checkpoint, with the goal of identifying and removing impaired drivers from the road.
The sheriff’s office emphasized the importance of sober driving and encouraged all drivers to wear seat belts, avoid using cell phones, follow traffic laws, and stay alert for unsafe drivers. The announcement also noted the potential consequences of driving under the influence, including arrest, fines, and the risk of fatal accidents, underscoring the need for responsible driving.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office offers several tips for safe driving: limit alcohol consumption, plan ahead with a designated sober driver, use alternative transportation if impaired, and help prevent others from driving under the influence. Members of the public are also encouraged to report impaired drivers by contacting law enforcement or, for anonymous tips, calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 or texting CRIMES (274637) with the message “Tip704.” Reporting tips can help prevent accidents and may be eligible for a cash reward.
