Asuncion has been a fixture in Stockton's legal landscape, having held the position of city attorney since her appointment in September 2022 and, before that, serving as the interim city attorney starting in March that same year.
Lori Asuncion announced her resignation as Stockton’s city attorney, saying, "I am honored and pleased to have served the city of Stockton and its residents for the past eighteen plus years," according to ABC 10. The City Council accepted her resignation during a closed session, and the city reached an agreement with her to resolve any outstanding contract issues for a smooth transition.
Mayor Christina Fugazi expressed gratitude for Asuncion’s service, stating, "We wish Lori the very best in all her future endeavors." Meanwhile, Taryn Jones, previously assistant city attorney, has been appointed acting city attorney as the council begins the search for a permanent replacement, as reported by KCRA.
