Strongsville residents are being asked to temporarily adjust their recycling habits due to an overflow issue with the city's green bins designated for cardboard. A social media announcement from the City of Strongsville Government urged locals to refrain from placing any cardboard into the already full green bins this week. Instead, the Republic bin at the Transfer Station behind City Hall is available for community use.
In the interim, the city is collaborating with Republic Waste to introduce a new bin dedicated to cardboard and residential mixed paper. This new recycling option will be situated next to the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank on Pearl Road. It's expected to be operational in approximately two weeks, aiming to alleviate current overflow problems. The logistics of introducing this new facility are already in motion, with the green bins set to be removed from the streetscape by this weekend, as per the city's recent update.
The issue of the overflowing green bins was previously brought to public attention through a post made by the City of Strongsville Government on their official Facebook page. The post stated, "The green bins are full. Please do not try to place any cardboard into them this week." Additionally, the city acknowledged the forthcoming installation of a new recycling bin, "We'll get the new cardboard recycling bin installed by the food bank as soon as possible."
