It took nearly three years for the law to close its grip on Samuel Salazar, the suspect in the murder of 18-year-old Noah Ivancso of Lake Elsinore. Despite the persistent attempts by law enforcement to apprehend Salazar following the issuance of a warrant, he continued to successfully evade arrest. But on January 21, 2026, his run from justice came to an end when the Riverside County Post Release Accountability Compliance Team tracked him down to a residence on East Wright Street in Hemet. According to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Salazar was taken into custody "without incident" and was subsequently booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on a murder charge.
Back on the tragic day of May 7, 2023, deputies had swiftly responded to a report of a medical aid call on Jamieson Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Ivancso with fatal gunshot wounds, an image perhaps too common in our news cycle, yet every instance a singular universe of grief. In the wake of the crime, the Lake Elsinore Sheriff Station and the Central Homicide Unit were to quickly launch an investigation. It would seem that justice often has to first create a perimeter, comb through the particulars, just to begin to slowly piece together what law is often too slow to prevent.
A photograph of Salazar has been made available by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, likely in an effort to offer clarity to a community shaken by acts of violence that shatter the mundane into the tragic. The investigation, nonetheless, remains an ongoing affair, the contours of its progress still shielded from public view for the time being. As the press release stated, "Due to the on-going investigation, no further information will be released at this time." However, authorities have encouraged anyone with relevant information to get in contact with Central Homicide Unit Investigators Anderson or Castaneda.
