On Monday night, a man who reported losing about $20,000 at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe made a bomb threat to the casino, prompting a response from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office after casino security reported the call. According to FOX40, the caller said, “Yeah, I just lost over $20,000 at your stupid casino, and I am going to destroy it now. I am going to bomb it. This is a bomb threat.”
Early on Tuesday at 1:43 a.m., deputies arrested Seth Maybee of South Lake Tahoe after he made bomb and terrorist threats against Harrah's Lake Tahoe. "Due to the history of the Harvey’s bombing in the early 1980s, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Stateline casinos take these threats very seriously," Sheriff Dan Coverley said, as reported by Casino.
Maybee is being held at the El Dorado County Jail, facing felony charges that could carry one to six years per count if convicted. Authorities noted the arrest prevented a possible repeat of the 1980 Harvey’s Resort Hotel bombing, when John Birges Sr.'s extortion attempt caused chaos but no injuries.
