In Elyria, Ohio, a pair of suspects was apprehended after allegedly burglarizing Johnny K's Powersports and stealing two dirt bikes with a combined value exceeding $11,000. According to Cleveland 19, Alan Rodriguez-Feliciano and Jean Vazquez-Irlanda, both 21, now face charges including felony theft and vandalism.
Elyria police officers were able to track the suspects' movements thanks to the footprints left in the overnight snow, which covered the ground. A statement obtained by WKYC from Captain Bill Lantz highlighted the poor timing of the crime due to the snowstorm, which hampered a "clean getaway". The footprints led from the store to an apartment on West River Road North, where the accused were discovered hiding under a staircase.
Following the discovery of the shattered glass at the store's entrance, officers were summoned around 4:16 a.m., as per reports from all three sources. Johnny K’s General Manager, Travis Bell, recounted to News 5 Cleveland how he received a call and rushed to the store upon hearing the news. The snow, which fell thickly during the break-in, created a visible trail right to the suspects' hiding spot, as explained by Rodriguez-Feliciano during his confession to the burglary.
