Entrepreneurs and business owners in Tacoma can attend a "Bonding Basics" workshop on February 19 to learn about bonding and contracting, with a focus on supporting minority, women, and socially and economically disadvantaged business owners. The City of Tacoma’s Equity in Contracting team is hosting the event in a hybrid format, allowing participants to join in-person at the Tacoma Municipal Building or virtually.
Kara Skinner, an industry expert and author of "The Little Black Bond Book," will serve as the keynote speaker for the workshop. The session aims to provide essential insights and help bridge knowledge gaps in the contracting process for local business owners, according to the City of Tacoma.
The workshop will cover what "Surety" is, the types of bonds, project and contract reviews, and details like costs, underwriting, financial statements, indemnity, and contract red flags. It will provide participants with information on the bonding process. Registration and access details are available on the City of Tacoma website.
