In a move designed to arm local small business owners with the tools they need to navigate technologically complex waters, the City of Tacoma has teamed up with HTM Consulting to bring a virtual workshop series to the public. The workshops, geared toward the adoption and understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity practices, are set to support businesses in strengthening their digital defenses while incorporating AI technologies into their operations.
Launching the first session on January 26, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., the series aims to concretely assist participants in not only grasping AI fundamentals but also thoroughly comprehending necessary cybersecurity protocols. Sessions will also instruct attendees on how to actively detect threats using AI tools and effectively mitigate risks to align with regulatory standards. Additionally, registrants are expected to get their hands dirty, so to speak, with exercises designed to help them to securely integrate AI systems into their business models.
As reported by the official City of Tacoma news release, following the initial workshop, participants will have access to two virtual follow-up check-ins—scheduled for February 11 and February 26, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. These sessions will provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss implementation strategies, address any emerging challenges, and engage in peer-to-peer learning.
The workshop series is particularly tailored to meet the needs of small business proprietors and operators, ensuring that it remains as relevant and practical as possible to those it seeks to empower. Although there is no cost associated, interested individuals need to proactively register to gain access.
