If you're ready to take a brisk dive for a good cause, mark your calendar for the Hickory Police Department's annual Polar Plunge. Supporting the Special Olympics North Carolina, the frosty fundraiser invites brave souls to take to the waters on February 21, with a venue set at The Hickory Foundation YMCA's outdoor pool. Located at 701 1st St NW in Hickory, plunge participants can start registering onsite at 11 a.m., with the splashing commencing at 1 p.m. Hickory's official government website reports that a $50 minimum donation is needed to take part, but students can get in on the action for half the price with a valid student ID.
Online pre-registration for the Hickory Police Department Polar Plunge is now open at give.specialolympicsnc.com/2026HickoryPDPlunge. Students receive a discounted rate. Join to support athletes with intellectual disabilities and take part in this chilly but meaningful event.
