The Tampa Police Department has thrown a creative curveball into the festive atmosphere of the upcoming Gasparilla celebration, inviting community members to engage in a real-life treasure hunt, according to a recent Tampa Police Department's Post. Over the course of the week leading up to the renowned parade, the department will disseminate daily safety clues on their official page, each pointing would-be treasure hunters to a tangible location within Tampa city limits where they can uncover the day's bounty.
Participants in the treasure hunt should check the Tampa Police’s page daily from January 26–30 at 10 a.m. EST for new clues. The department reminds everyone to follow all laws and safety guidelines. Prizes include Tampa Police and Pepin Responsibility Matters T-shirts, tickets to Pepin's Treasure Cove, badge beads, and other goodies. Winners will be confirmed on the department’s story each day.
Prizes include T-shirts, tickets, and limited-edition badge beads that promote community engagement. Tickets to Pepin’s Treasure Cove are for participants 21 and older and require valid ID for redemption.
The Tampa Police Department notes that the event is not sponsored or endorsed by Facebook or Instagram. Participants must be 18 or older and agree to release Facebook, Instagram, and the City of Tampa from liability while following platform rules. The hunt adds an interactive twist to the Gasparilla celebration for locals and visitors alike.
