Tampa will host the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) Professional Learning Conference at the Tampa Convention Center from tomorrow to Saturday. In its 82nd year, the conference is Tampa’s longest-running convention and is under contract to remain in the city through 2032.
According to the City of Tampa, the conference attracts more than 20,000 attendees, including concert guests, and is expected to generate an $8.6 million economic impact for local hotels, restaurants, and shops. The event provides music educators and enthusiasts with an opportunity to explore and advance the field of music education.
Tampa residents should expect heavier traffic near South Franklin Street and the Convention Center’s Front Drive during the conference. The city has issued a traffic advisory for motorists, buses, and pedestrians.
Residents should be especially mindful of traffic on Thursday and Friday mornings and evenings, and plan accordingly when traveling near the Convention Center during peak conference hours.
