Early Tuesday morning, a tragic incident on Interstate 10 near Verrado Way in Buckeye claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman from Tonopah. Reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, the collision involved a two-car crash in the eastbound lanes and resulted in the woman being transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety told AZFamily that the incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. when the woman, who was later identified as being from Tonopah, rear-ended a work truck. It is stated that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the fatality. No other injuries were reported in what seems to be an isolated yet devastating event.
The accident led to the closure of the eastbound lanes of I-10 as crews worked diligently to clear the scene. By 9 a.m., the lanes had reopened, with the westbound lanes remaining unaffected during the incident. This ensured that the disruption to the traffic flow was managed and minimized, restoring normalcy to the freeway as soon as it was safely possible.
As of now, the identity of the Tonopah woman has not been released to the public. The DPS has not commented further on the cause of the crash beyond the preliminary details they have provided. This lack of information adds a layer of unanswered questions to the already grave nature of the crash, leaving a void where there should be answers. Nevertheless, the road to truth is often paved with patience, waiting for justice and understanding to catch up with the swiftness of unforeseen tragedy.
