The arrest, which occurred on December 9, 2025, has led to charges being filed by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for two counts of lewd and lascivious acts, as reported by KTLA. Smith, known to provide childcare services advertised on online marketplaces and offer snowboard lessons to children through a "snowboard club," is believed to have worked across various locations in the United States.
Before this incident, Smith had been charged with sexual assault on a child while in a position of trust in Colorado Springs, Colorado although the case remains ongoing, Smith had been released on bond with the condition not to leave the state of Colorado or be around children under 18 until he was rearrested in California, according to a Facebook post by the Torrance Police Department. The recent press release included Smith's photograph with the belief that unreported sexual assaults may surface, and as part of an effort to uncover any additional instances of abuse following Smith's incarceration, detectives urge those with information to come forward.
Smith remains in custody in Los Angeles County, with the authorities highlighting the importance of community involvement in these sensitive cases. He is described as a Black male adult, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 230 pounds, with brown eyes, and brown dreadlocked hair with blonde tips.
