The Southland community will soon need to adjust its routine as the Child Support Services Torrance office is set to shutter its doors for good. As of Friday, January 16, the establishment will officially cease operations. Those in need of services have been directed to the South LA office, located at 8300 S. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, starting Tuesday, January 20. This notice came recently, giving locals just a brief window to prepare for the transition.
Alongside the office closure, the payment kiosk in Torrance is also closing down permanently. Patrons will now have to either visit the South LA office or find alternatives among the other listed LA County Child Support Office & Kiosk locations. In a bid to smoothly facilitate the changes, the department has put forth a handful of avenues for payment. These include online portals, phone payments, and a variety of physical locations where kiosks stand ready to process transactions.
As recently published by Los Angeles County, in addition to the South LA office, service-seekers can use the Child Support Services kiosks at the following locations: Southeast LA at 5500 S. Eastern Ave., San Fernando Valley at 7555 Van Nuys Blvd., Pomona Valley at 3179 Temple Ave., and Antelope Valley at 42281 10th Street West. For those preferring to forgo the trip, the county has also offered several other ways to stay on top of child support payments.
Options for remote payment have been clearly laid out, allowing to easily navigate the system. Payments can be made online at the state's child support website, through services like MoneyGram and PayNearMe, or the reliable method of posting a check by mail. For those who are inclined to use a more immediate, voice-assisted method, phone payments remain an option, albeit with a service fee attached. For any further inquiry or if confusion persists, the county encourages reaching out by phone or visiting their website for detailed information and support.
