
Today, drivers on Florida's Turnpike faced delays as a tractor-trailer fire prompted the closure of southbound lanes near mile marker 232 in Osceola County, near St. Cloud; the incident caused a significant backup of traffic as emergency crews attended to the scene, footage from traffic cams showed the urgent work at hand as firefighters tackled the blaze, the road remained closed until the situation was under control.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that the cab portion of the tractor-trailer was engulfed in flames and separated from the trailer. Safety measures were in place; fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, according to ClickOrlando.
Recovery efforts saw success as all southbound lanes of the Turnpike were reopened, with an update coming in around 10 a.m.; however, drivers were advised to proceed with caution as crews continued their work at the scene, ensuring the remnants of the incident posed no further threat to the public and the area was fully secure for travel, WFTV reported.
