Residents of Grant Hill were startled by the sound of gunshots that rang out on Imperial Avenue last Sunday. The San Diego Police Department reported that Central Division officers were called to the 2900 block of Imperial Ave at 19:48, following reports of a shooting in the area. According to the SDPD Watch Commander's Log, officers found a 50-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. The injured man was quickly transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
In a concurrent turn of events, a second victim with a similar gunshot wound to the right lower leg was taken to a different hospital by relatives. It was later confirmed that this shooting took place at the same location as the first. Both victims' injuries were classified as non-life-threatening, yet this act of violence has once again rapidly escalated tensions in a community all too familiar with the trauma of gun violence. The suspects responsible have eluded capture, having left the area before police arrived, and as of now, no suspect information is available.
The SDPD Street Gang Unit Detectives have taken up the case, delving into the circumstances that led to the shooting. Both victims' injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
The San Diego Police are reaching out to the public for assistance. Anyone with information related to the shootings has been encouraged to actively come forward and speak out. To facilitate anonymous tips more effectively, the public can call Crime Stoppers directly at 888-580-8477.
