High school students looking to get a jumpstart on their college education and career planning can find guidance in the College and Career Tracks offered by the University of Cincinnati. These curated collections consist of recommended classes that align with specific college degrees or career fields. According to UC News, these tracks help eliminate the uncertainty often faced by students and their guidance counselors when selecting dual enrollment courses.
The University's Launch UC program has established partnerships with local high schools to provide college credit opportunities, including dual enrollment, advanced placement, and international baccalaureate programs. Kelsey Huelse, associate director of student recruitment at UC's College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS), said, "Now we can give guidance counselors these prescribed pathways that help them easily identify which courses a student should take based on their interests and the majors they want to explore," according to UC News. Since its inception, the program has witnessed more than 150 student enrollees and aims to expand further.
The initiative currently boasts 28 tracks, with courses applicable to undergraduate degrees at UC and potentially other institutions. Notably, the pre-medicine track has become the most popular amongst CAHS offerings, engaging over 20 participants, three of whom received a digital pennant for completing the first tier as recently as fall 2025. These digital badges serve to both recognize student achievements and encourage progress through the designated track.
