Marin County drivers, brace yourselves for some traffic hiccups as Caltrans rolls out closures on Southbound US-101, starting tonight. The interruption is part of the ongoing Marin Sonoma Narrows B7 project, aiming to enhance the highway infrastructure we all depend on. As reported by Caltrans, the closures will run from Tuesday, Jan. 6, through to Friday, Jan. 9, taking place each night from 9:30 PM until 6 AM the following mornings.
Specifically, the Atherton Avenue on-ramp will be off-limits to Southbound US-101 travelers during these times. While the closures might test the patience of local commuters, this electrical work signifies a step toward the completion of the Marin-Sonoma Narrows program's arduous journey. According to the same Caltrans announcement, drivers are advised to use Redwood Boulevard, heading southbound, and join US-101 at De Long Avenue as an alternative route.
Making headway in the extensive 16-mile US-101 Marin-Sonoma Narrows program, this project marks the last installment of High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane construction, an effort that enriches regional connectivity.
