Drivers in Eastern Hillsborough County should prepare for a series of road closures set to take place in January due to railroad crossing repairs by CSX. According to an announcement from Hillsborough County, the closures will allow railroad and County crews to conduct necessary maintenance to ensure road safety for commuters.
The maintenance will see parts of several roads closed for a three-day period as crews work on various railroad crossings situated along the CSX railway near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Turkey Creek Road is scheduled to temporarily shut down beginning Jan. 14, alongside Wilkinson Lane. Sydney Dover Road will follow with closures starting on Jan. 15. Additional roads listed include McIntosh Road, North Valrico Road, South Webb, Kingsway, Parsons Avenue, Highview Road, and finally, Williams Road closing in a cascading schedule throughout January.
Motorists will need to look out for detour signs that will be in place to guide them around the affected areas. Hillsborough County has also assured that message boards will be installed well in advance to notify residents of the upcoming closures. For those who rely heavily on navigation apps to plot their routes, updates reflecting the detours will be pushed through to assist in rerouting around the closures.
Maintaining timely updates on the status of roadwork, the road closure schedule might be subject to change as CSX continues to evaluate and conduct improvements on the crossings. Residents seeking more information on the closures can reach out directly to the Public Works Customer Service at (813) 635-5400 or contact them via email at [email protected].
