The search continues for a missing Long Island teenager, last seen over two weeks ago. Suffolk County Police reported that 15-year-old Thomas Medlin traveled from the Stony Brook School to New York City on Friday, January 9, and was last seen at Grand Central Station at approximately 5:30 p.m. that evening, according to information provided by ABC7NY.
Thomas Medlin, identified as white, 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weighing 130 pounds, was wearing a black jacket with red stripes, dark sweatpants with white stripes, a black backpack, and glasses. Eyewitnesses claim that the teen had run to catch the train to the city from the Stony Brook station. Authorities are now looking to the public to possibly provide leads in helping to locate him, as mentioned in coverage by FOX5NY.
Amidst rising concern for Medlin's safety, there had been unconfirmed reports suggesting that he was meeting someone from Roblox, an online gaming platform. However, Roblox officials issued a statement asserting that, after a thorough investigation, no evidence was found indicating attempts to direct Medlin to off-platform communication or the sharing of personal contact details.
"We share everyone's hope for Thomas Medlin's safe return and our thoughts are with him and his family. We conducted a thorough review to support law enforcement's investigation and found no attempts to direct him to an off-platform communication method or sharing of off-platform contact information, including usernames, phone numbers or other communication methods. We will continue to provide any assistance we can," Roblox stated, as obtained by ABC7NY.
Both the Suffolk County Police and Medlin's family are urging anyone with information about Thomas Medlin's whereabouts to step forward. People are encouraged to reach out to Fourth Squad Detectives at 631-854-8452 or immediately call 911 with any pertinent details that could assist in the search for the missing teen.
