A tragic event unfolded yesterday when a solo bicyclist was involved in a fatal traffic collision in Vallejo, according to a social media post from the Vallejo Police Department (VPD). The incident, which marks the first of its kind in 2026 for the VPD, occurred shortly after 6 PM on the 1100 block of Monterey Street.
Upon receiving the report of the collision, Vallejo Police Patrol Division and emergency medical services staff were dispatched to the location. There, they discovered an adult male bicyclist suffering from significant injuries. Despite immediate medical aid provided at the scene, the man unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. As stated by the Vallejo Police Department, the bicyclist appeared to have lost control of his bike, and authorities believe no other vehicles were directly involved in this unfortunate incident.
The identity of the deceased is currently being withheld, pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Sheriff's Coroner's Office. A preliminary investigation suggests no other vehicles' involvement, but the VPD Traffic Division is waiting on toxicology results as part of the ongoing investigation into the exact cause of the collision.
