A Valrico neighborhood was the scene of a hazard after a man decided to scatter nails across the road, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. In a social media post, the sheriff's office detailed the arrest of Felix Uresti, 51, on charges of jeopardizing public safety with this peculiar and dangerous act.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Post, the incident occurred at 10:37 a.m. on January 13, when HCSO’s Street Crimes Unit caught Uresti placing nails on Miller Road after exiting a white 2022 Toyota Tundra. Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned the act, saying, "Throwing nails into the roadway is a deliberate and malicious act that puts innocent people in danger and carries serious consequences."
Uresti was taken into custody shortly after returning home. A search of his vehicle revealed a large bucket of nails and multiple roofing nails, linking him to the roadway debris, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Uresti’s motive remains unknown, but his actions posed serious risks of tire blowouts, accidents, and injuries. Sheriff Chad Chronister called it a senseless decision that endangered working families, children, and first responders and emphasized that such behavior will not be tolerated.
