
A Victorville neighborhood is in shock after a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed Friday evening, leaving family members and residents grieving and searching for answers. Deputies found the teen lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Homicide detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department have opened an investigation and are now looking for whoever pulled the trigger.
The shooting happened at about 8:20 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, near Glen Canyon Lane and Burwood Avenue. Deputies rushed the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators have identified him as 14-year-old Jeremy Rosales and said the case remains very much active, according to CBS Los Angeles.
Local records and a sheriff’s office statement show deputies responded to the 12500 block of Glen Canyon Lane, near Mojave Vista Park. A sheriff’s aviation helicopter assisted in the search overhead while deputies on the ground blocked off streets near Mojave Vista Elementary and Burwood Avenue to canvass the area and look for evidence, as reported by Victor Valley News.

"The investigation is ongoing at this time," deputies said, adding that they have not yet released any information about a suspect or a possible motive. Detectives are following leads and processing the scene as they work to piece together what unfolded on that block and who was involved, per CBS Los Angeles.

As word spread, the focus in the neighborhood quickly shifted from fear to grief. The teen’s youth football team and neighbors organized a candlelight memorial and launched a fundraiser to help his family with funeral expenses. The SoCal Trojans shared a tribute to Rosales, and a memorial gathering was set for Monday evening, while a GoFundMe page was created to support his relatives.
