The ranks of the Violet Township Fire Department stand a man down this week as one of their longstanding servicemen has transitioned into retirement. Lt. Kevin McFarland, a name synonymous with steadfast service and expertise, has hung up his helmet after a 26-year tenure with the department.
McFarland's journey in Violet Township began in earnest in January of 2005 as a full-time firefighter/paramedic, before ascending to the rank of Lieutenant in 2008, according to a social media post by the department. His service, predominantly dedicated to Rescue 592, involved leading his unit with the seasoned calm that only comes from years of forging oneself amidst the blaze and the wreckage.
But McFarland's impact extended beyond the routine calls and the emergencies contained within the township's borders. His involvement with the Central Ohio Strike Team and the regional Urban Search and Rescue Team exemplified his commitment to the broader sphere of disaster response and public safety. "Beyond his day-to-day duties, Lt. McFarland was highly active with the Central Ohio Strike Team and the regional Urban Search and Rescue Team," the department's post acclaimed.
The Violet Township Fire Department's farewell is tinged with both pride and fondness as they conclude their homage. "We thank Lt.
