Wake Forest’s annual leaf collection program is underway, with bi-weekly pickups continuing through March 13. The Town of Wake Forest, in a social media post, reminded residents to rake leaves to the curb and keep streets clear to maintain traffic flow and proper drainage.
Residents are asked to keep leaves separate from other yard waste, as the Town’s vacuum equipment is designed exclusively for leaf collection and cannot handle sticks, rocks, or other debris. Placing leaves in piles behind the curb helps maintain street safety and allows for efficient collection, while following the program’s guidelines also reduces the risk of delays or equipment malfunctions, according to the Town of Wake Forest.
The Town’s guidance also covers limbs and brush, which should be placed behind the curb and meet size restrictions to ensure easier disposal. Residents are advised not to block access to fences, walls, or utility fixtures. The Town has set a limit of eight cubic yards of brush per residence to maintain efficient collection, as detailed in the official announcement.
For oversized brush, residents can schedule a pickup by contacting the Town via an online form or by phone. Stumps and lot-clearing debris are not collected by the Town. Daily updates on leaf collection progress, along with contact information for scheduling or additional details, are available through the Town’s website and hotline, as noted by a Town representative.
Residents can track the daily progress of leaf collection crews by calling the Town’s hotline, which is updated each weekday morning with the crew’s location. For more information about the program or to request oversized brush pickups, individuals can visit the Town’s official solid waste management website or contact Chad Hildebrandt directly.
