The Webster Police Department has taken on the unusual role of a lost and found office, housing an undisclosed amount of money that seems to have been carelessly left behind by a visitor to a local business. In an effort to reunite this cash with its owner, the police have put out a call to residents who may have recently lost their funds. According to CW39, the funds can be reclaimed at the police department’s headquarters at 217 Pennsylvania Ave.
An announcement shared by the department detailed the process for claiming the money. Individuals are directed to contact Detective V. Cesari by phone at 281-316-4173. To lay claim to the funds, one must provide "specific details, such as the dollar amount, the approximate time the money was last seen, approximate location where it may have been lost and/or any other pertinent details." Claimants are also required to present a valid form of identification, as noted on a Facebook post from the City of Webster.
Police said the unclaimed money will be held for 90 days, after which it will be transferred to the City of Webster’s treasury if no rightful owner comes forward. Authorities are urging anyone who believes the funds may belong to them to contact the police department and provide the required identifying information to file a claim.
