The City of West Allis is joining forces with the Community Impact Partnership and Foundation to roll out a series of leadership workshops slated for spring of 2026. A statement released by the City of West Allis announced the initiative, which is set to enhance the leadership skills of residents and local business owners while tackling pressing community challenges. According to the announcement, the "ENGAGE: Community in Focus" program consists of five sessions, each aiming at different issues, from civic involvement to small business vitality.
Running on Thursdays from February 19 through March 19, these workshops serve as a breeding ground for practical solutions by enabling participants to engage directly with community leaders and organizations. Held at Aurora West Allis from 6-8 p.m., the sessions offer a platform for collaborative idea generation and strategic planning. Registration is capped at 20 participants to maintain an intimate and effective setting, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
These encompass enhancing local governance through "Increasing Civic Involvement," empowering younger generations with "Youth Voice and Intergenerational Leadership," and improving "Housing Stability and Community Care." Additionally, efforts to vitalize public spaces and the notion of "Third Spaces,” as well as fostering "Economic Opportunity and Small Business Vitality," are on the agenda, aiming to fortify the local socioeconomic fabric, as noted by the City of West Allis.
Illuminating the workshops with expert insights, the sessions feature a lineup of notable guest speakers. With Ian Abston of The Hoan Group and Forward 48, Steph Salvia from Joy Engine, and Julian Kegel of Kegel's Inn & German Restaurant, the series is set to benefit from diverse perspectives. Also involved are figures from the emerging West Allis Homeless Support Coalition and the City of West Allis Planning & Zoning Department, among others. The City of West Allis announcement promises more speakers to be disclosed as the event draws nearer.
Community generosity comes in full display as sponsors provide for the workshop series at no cost to participants, including light meals. If registration reaches capacity, an waiting list will be created for a future series, the city ensures.
