The Westminster Police Department (WPD) is currently investigating a homicide following a grim discovery in Wolff Run Park this past weekend. According to a police statement shared on their official social media channels, officers were called to a welfare check early Saturday morning after receiving reports of a man found lying face down in the parking lot of the park, located at 4705 W 76th Ave.
Upon their arrival just after 7 a.m., authorities found a deceased man in his late 20s who had suffered several gunshot wounds, as detailed by the Westminster Police Department. Residents had reported hearing multiple gunshots around 2 a.m. that day and later observed a dark-colored, newer model sedan quickly leave the park. It was noted that police were not called at the time those shots were reportedly heard.
In an effort to rapidly advance the case, WPD is reaching out to the public for assistance. They urge anyone living in the vicinity to review their video camera footage between 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. If any relevant information or footage is found, they request that it be reported to their non-emergency number at 303-658-4360. The department stresses that this appears to be an isolated incident, adding reassurance that there is no immediate danger to the public.
