Prince George’s County Police have taken John Michael Brand, a 43-year-old White Plains resident, into custody for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of 60-year-old Constance Miller, who was unhoused at the time. The incident occurred on the night of January 8 at the 3100 block of 75th Avenue in Landover, and Miller died on January 16 from her injuries despite medical efforts, as reported by the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Authorities indicate the shooting happened during an argument between Brand and Miller, who were known to each other. The case remains under investigation by the Homicide Unit, as stated by the Prince George’s County Police Department.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department on their Facebook page, Brand has been charged with first-degree murder.
