Residents of White Settlement experienced an abrupt disruption this weekend after a transformer issue led to power outages and the onset of small fires. According to a social media post by the White Settlement Police Department, the incident was reported at approximately 1:14 p.m. last Saturday and prompted a swift joint response from both the local police and fire departments.
Upon arriving at the scene in the 1200 block of Lakeview Ridge, first responders found a downed power pole and transformer, leading to reported outages that plagued neighborhoods including Lakeview Ridge, Mirike, Gibbs, Downe, and Rumfield. Despite the electrical mishap, there were also small fires that were contained and extinguished in the backyards of some residences by the fire department.
Oncor, the electrical services company, raced against time to restore power to the area, impacting up to 480 customers at the peak of the outages. Coordination between Oncor and White Settlement's police and fire chiefs was instrumental in the quick turnaround, resulting in many customers having their power restored in a relatively short span of time.
