The Zebulon NC Police Department has found itself at the center of public scrutiny following an arrest involving kidnapping and ethnic intimidation allegations. In a statement posted on Zebulon NC Police Department's Facebook page, the department outlined the procedure of their investigation, emphasizing that the arrest was made on the grounds of probable cause as per North Carolina law.
A magistrate reviewed the information gathered, determined that probable cause was sufficient for an offense and signed off on the arrest warrants, according to the Zebulon NC Police Department's statement; the department also maintained that the charging decisions were made without the influence of personal opinions, public sentiment, or any outside pressures but rather hinged solely on the evidence at hand and its judicial review. Acknowledging the conversation around the case as part of a broader political and social arena, the police officials were clear that law enforcement actions are shielded from these external factors.
The Zebulon NC Police Department stated that arrests are based on probable cause and emphasized that individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The department said this principle guides its actions to support fairness and the integrity of the judicial process.
Police officials also noted that some information will not be released while the investigation and court proceedings are ongoing. They said this is intended to protect the judicial process and ensure a fair trial, adding that investigative and charging decisions are based solely on evidence and applicable law.
